Last minute gifts

I made these 2 drawstring bags for my Mom's knitting projects, using Jeni's pdf pattern from In Color Order.  I intended on only making one, but accidently used the pattern with the smaller measurements and I felt it wasn't quite large enough for the hats that she likes to make.  Anyhow, she always mentioned that she loved these little bags, so thought she deserved a couple of her own!

Purple Onions Christmas Cards

I made these cards last night.  The cards (except the cups) are colored with my new Chromatix Markers that are alcohol based.  I'm still learning how to shade with them, and to try not to color right up to the image line as the color tends to bleed outide the lines a bit.  The cups were colored with prismacolor pencils.  Loving these stamps though, I still have about 10 more Christmas cards to make, and if I was really smart, I would make a bunch for next year in January.  Not sure if I'm really smart though....
These zippered pouches were made with a tutorial I found at Noodlehead.  It's the open wide pouch, and it really is very roomy.  The toadstools, and kite ties are the medium size (gifts for my girls) and the aqua/grey in the background is the large size as part of my sister's gift.  That's all for now folks, linking up to The Needle and Thread Network today and Freshly Pieced.  I only have one WIP piece to report, a quilt top I made in the summer needs to be finished, but other than that I will resume sewing after the holidays!

Finished!

It was my goal to have this quilt done by Friday, and I'm done a whole day early!!  Here it is, I am very happy with how this turned out-I hope the family I made it for is happy too!
This is the front.  All squares were cut to 15x15.

On the back, I used different sizes of shirts, but filled in the spaces with Kona Ash gray (favorite neutral color!). Sharing this at JAQS studio today and  will be sharing this tomorrow at Crazy Mom Quilts for finish it up Friday tomorrow!

WIP T-shirt quilt

I was asked to make a t-shirt quilt as a Christmas gift, so I started it last week since I was all finished from the Craft fair preps.  I'm almost finished, I spent the morning quilting it, first time I've done a quilt this large in a long time (64x82).  I'm going to make the binding soon, and will hopefully have it ready for pick up by Monday.  I'll share a complete photo when it's all done, it's basically a reversible quilt since I pieced both the front and back with t-shirts!
I'll be linking this to The Needle and Thread Network today, and Freshly Pieced!

It was awesome!

Well, the ECMC fair was fantastic!  I saw a lot of friends, and met some new ones as well.  It was really busy both days, and lots of unique items in the room to buy for Christmas gifts.  The next one will be in the Spring, I'll keep you posted for dates!

Last week, I made this little basket from a tutorial posted at Film in the Fridge.  The round bottom was a bit hard for me to ease in, but it's really cute.  Great little storage container for hair clips, polly pockets, pet shops.  You know, for all those toys that are so tiny and they end up in your vacuum cleaner.

I also made a journal cover but didn't get around to blogging it before the show.  I found a tutorial at Stitched in Color for the cover, and really like that it uses up lots of stash pieces.

Anyhow, right now, I'm in the process of making a custom order t-shirt quilt.  It's pretty big, 69x86!  I have the top done, going to piece the back over the next couple of days and then hopefully will have it finished and ready to share by next week.  That's it for now, linking up to The Needle and Thread Network today.

Christmas Cards

I am slowly adding to my Christmas card collection, which is a good thing since we should be mailing them in the next week or so!  This one is a new stamp I bought from Purple Onions Designs and was drawn by Stacey Yacula.
This little mouse is also by Stacey.  I'm using up leftover paper from my SAS, so I'm sure you've seen this same background only with reindeer last time!
This one is all Stampin Up! I used the new color midnight muse and red riding hood ink for the ornaments.

For this card, I used the stocking punch and punched out from embossed paper.  The bakers twine is My Mind's Eye and I bought it at My Stamping Studio.  She has a ton of awesome twine there, and different colors of it too.

And no, these cards will not be on my Fair table tomorrow!  I wish I would have had time to make a few to sell, even if just to add a Christmas touch to my display, but I really need to keep these to give away!  Hopefully, I will see some of you tomorrow-now off to pack up.

A special order complete

I had an order for charcoal gray and white thrum mitts a couple of weeks ago, I didn't promise to get them done since I've been busy with sewing, but I was able to finish them last night.  Knitting is a great hobby for in the evening when you want to watch a bit of tv but still be creating something!  Anyhow, I'll be linking this up to The Needle and Thread Network today, a place to discover lots of different fibre/fabric artists from all over Canada.

It's almost here....

The East Coast Momma Collective fair starts this Saturday, December 1st at St. Mary's Boat Club.  I know it's been a little quiet here on my blog, but trust me when I say I have been busy sewing!  I restocked my reusable snack bags this morning.
I've also been making quite a few new infinity scarves, two of each of these designs, plus a navy and white, and oatmeal, and a repeat of my favorite scarf (that I ended up keeping for myself the first time around!).

Until the next update my friends........
This scarf seriously matches almost all of my shirts!

Rice Bags

Well, I can safely say the blog hop post was a success!  249 comments and the contest is not over yet!  You can still leave a comment to be entered to win the give away until Saturday, November 24th.

Today, I finished up some more infinity scarves and made some rice bags this afternoon.  I use flannel since it is so cozy, and this time I sewed the rice into separate channels so that it doesn't move around so much.

I plan to make a few more for the East Coast Momma Collective fair-eek, it's only 10 days away and there's still lots to do!!

Sew Sisters Blog Hop featuring Nova Scotia today!!

The Sew Sisters Blog hop comes to Nova Scotia today and I have a wonderful list of bloggers to share with you.  I was delighted when Carol asked me to be a part of this week long event featuring Canadian Quilters.  Carol and I "met" online through our quilting blogs when she was still living in India, and then we reconnected once she was settled in Toronto!  The Internet can make the world a small place indeed!

Anyhow, a little about me.  I've been married for 14 years, and together we have 2 daughters, aged 10 and 7.  I started quilting about 12 years ago, took a bit of a break when the girls were young, and started again about 2 years ago.  I love to create in general and if you look through my blog you'll see a variety of mediums- fabric, wool, paper crafts etc.

I am partway through craft fair season with only the East Coast Momma Collective fair left in December, so I don't have any quilts I'm working on right now.  I did, however, finish up quite a few over the summer.

Love this Bow-Tie quilt, inspired by Blue Elephant Stitches (fellow Canadian!!).  The background is Kona solids, and I used lots of polka dot scraps for the bow-ties.

This was made from a Moda charm pack and the tutorial was found at A Bright Corner.

This jungle quilt was requested by a friend for her nephew who was born in September.  This is a Moda Bake Shop recipe.

I really love Kona solids right now, this Ash grey is my favorite color.

And, to leave a little bit of Christmas spirit, here is a stocking I made last year (with every intention of making 3 more, but that hasn't happened yet!).

So, I do have a prize to give away from Sew Sisters.  I chose  a bundle of Kona Solids (5 co-ordinating colors, 1/2 metre each) as the prize for this stop on the tour.  (And yes, ash is one of the colors!)

Anyone can enter, leave a comment on this post, and if you are a follower on my blog, or become a follower, you can leave 2 comments.  The contest runs until November 24th, and be sure to leave me an email address in order to be able to contact you!

As promised, a list of fellow quilting bloggers from right here in Nova Scotia!

Raspberry thrum mitts

I finished up these mittens last night, I love the color of these.  So pretty.

The fair in PEI went really well.  Saw a lot of great people and return customers (you know who you are!) so it was a fun social event too.

Tomorrow is my day for the Sew Sisters blog hop.  I chose a great little bundle of fabric to give away, so be sure to check back tomorrow for all the details!!

Christmas Cards

I ordered the new collection of Stacy Yacula's stamps from Purple onion designs and I love them!!  I colored a few yesterday with my tombow watercolor markers so I thought I'd share.  The snowman stamp is actually Sunshine Designs, but the others are Stacy Yacula's.
Love this little penguin, and those trees above are adorable.  Hard to tell in the photo, but the glitter snow is really sparkly.  I'm designing my cards with less layers now, and just letting the image be the focal point.  I'm loving the vibrancy of the coloring too.

This is a Stamping Bella snowman stamp and the snowflakes and paper are Stampin Up!  Love this stamp too.

That's all for now folks.  Off to PEI to participate in the Colonel Gray craft fair!!  Maybe I'll see some of you there!!

Lots to share....

While wandering around Pinterest the other night I came across a tutorial from Stumble and Stitch and I just had to make some fabric ornaments.  She had just the stockings, but I decided to try a candy cane, bell and a heart as well.  I love these little ornaments, so bright and cheery.

I'm still getting ready for my craft fairs, and decided to make some sets of pot holders/hot pads.  They are totally reversible and have insulated batting on both sides so the heat shouldn't go through them at all.

One more owl blankie and bib set to add to the fair table.  Love this fabric!

And last, but not least, I bought this stamp at Kelly's store My Stamping Studio last week while at the Stamp-a-Stack.  I used tombows on watercolor paper to color this image.  So cute, I love the little birds, they are so cheery and this can be a Christmas card or a winter card.

I found a new linky to visit on Mondays.  Sarah at Alderberry Hill has an awesome blog, and she's from Newfoundland!  We're practically neighbors! And I'll be joining the parties at Quiltstory and The Needle and Thread Network too!

Zippered Pouches

Today on my to do list were zippered pouches.  I love this cute fabric called Lucy's Crab shack and just had to make a couple of bags with it.
I like to have a variety of fabric styles, so chose something a little more neutral for these 2 bags.
And, back to something bright for the last one!  That's all for now, linking up to The Needle and Thread Network  and Quiltstory today!

Christmas Stamp-A-Stack cards

Sunday, myself and 2 friends held our annual Christmas Stamp-A-Stack in Windsor.  We had a wonderful day, and met alot of awesome people who were very happy to get a head start on their Christmas Cards.  These are the 4 that were done at my tables (2 of each card per person).  All in all, 1,392 cards were made on Sunday!!  That's alot of glitter!!  Anyhow, we'll be having another one in the Spring, an all Occasion event for that time of year.  Thank you to all who participated!

Cookies/Hot Chocolate in a jar

Last night my sisters and I made some bottles with cookie mixes to donate as a basket item for a charity event.  I found the idea on Pinterest, but the original recipe is by Bakerella.  These are so much fun to put together, and the recipe is printed on the back of the tag.

We also made some hot chocolate mixes for the benefit as well.  On the bottom are peppermint candies, then the cocoa and on top some mini marshmallows.  We stamped and colored the tags (cup image is by Taylored Expressions), and I had lots of extra fabric to decorate the tops of the jars with.  These would make great Christmas gifts-the ideas are piling up in my head!!

I'm linking this to Made by Me Wednesday!
